TRD Plus rear sway bar

    Got this today brand new in the box and cant wait to install it and feel how she handles.

    Link to where you got it from? I've thought of getting one but never committed to ordering it. I was hoping they would go down in price this many years after the Gen 3 stopped production.

    Also FYI, your skid plate would be more akin to a chassis brace. You already have a front sway bar from the factory.

    Let us know how the install goes.

    I got it from a forum user here.

    He never installed it, so his loss is my gain.

    Yes that sounds right now that you said it about my skid plate being more of a frame stiffener.

    I did not know there was a front sway bar already, is it a lower sway bar?

    Yes lower sway bar with a long link that connects it to the strut just under the spring. If you look under the car you should be able to see it in front of the control arm.

    Got it installed today, I did not remove the wheels or remove the lower shock bolts.

    One thing that I noticed is the two sizes of tools mentioned of 13 & 14 mm are not correct.

    15 mm is needed instead of 14 mm.

    Also a magnetic pickup tool helps a lot to place the nut on the bolt of the end links.

    Took it for a test drive and indeed the rear is tighter, it pairs well with my front aluminum skid plate.

    I lean more towards weight reduction.

    So I dont want to really get into all the braces and stuff like that, I got this TRD plus bar simply because its Toyota made.

    I already reduced the weight of the HV hybrid battery by using the Nexcell lithium which cuts the weight by half and then I went ahead and got some Ray's SuperEco 15" rims which are also half the weight of stock rims.

    I would like to go carbon fiber hood and rear hatch but that would be in the future.

    I would do Carbon fiber fenders if they are out there too.

    The lighter the better, which will increase overall mpg.

    I have already added the extra weight of the front aluminum skid plate and now this rear sway bar so not really the direction I want to go.

    When you replaced your hybrid battery, did you get credit for the old hybrid battery core?

    I'm also a fan of the Plus rear sway bar... I got mine a few years back, bought brand new on sale from a dealer, and it was quite easy to install. Granted it probably doesn't TOO much since the rest of my suspension is stock on 15" wheels, but it does feel a bit more grounded in turns and just looks cool!

    I was lucky to get a brand new one still in the box from a forum member here.

    Also a rare thing to see but I saw a white Prius with the Plus package in my area today.

    I'll show that to a friend. He's taking in this Gen 3 Prius project once we're done with the truck hauling setup. The winch, tonneau covers, and headache rack showed up so we can take her in this weekend.
