Trade 07 touring Prius for 09 aura xr

What package is your Prius and which model Acura - there is no xr? Even assuming you have a loaded Prius and they have a base TSX the Acura is likely wortha couple thousand more. Id be sure to get a carfax. If it all checks out the TSX is a fun car to drive, as are the other Acuras.

Lower resale and higher lifetime cost
Different kind of fun to drive
More likely to need expensive repairs

A little newer
Maybe more fun to drive

Saturn's out of business. Getting parts and service on that car will be difficult to begin with, and only get worse. And, Saturn chat forums are dying out.

The Prius is Toyota's flagship hybrid - Toyota will be supporting with parts and service for the forseeable future. And, we on PriusChat aren't dying out.

I wouldn't trade if I were you.

You'd be nuts to do it. Betcha the other guy proposed this "even trade": he wants to get rid of the thing, leather seats notwithstanding.

I'm also puzzled by both the above. I'm at 60K miles on the original brakes and bearings. Many have gone 100K+ miles and are still on the original brakes. Bearing changes prior to 41K miles or even 100K miles is rare.

 

That's me. I'm at 155K miles and I still have enough pad left to hit 200K at least.

 

I own an '07 with 45,000 miles on it.

Judging from the condition of the brakes on mine, it won't need new pads until I pass well over 150,000 miles. Also, no wheel bearing problems on mine either.

I'm surprised the OP needed to have his '07's brakes and bearing serviced at just 41K miles. Maybe he abuses his car (heavy foot, crashes, etc).

i gotta better idea.....give me your 07 touring prius and I'll give you my well maintained 99 Subaru Legacy limited...it only has 125k with all new fluids, new OEM suspension, brakes, tires etc...

The subaru is a beast in winter, much more reliable than a Saturn, looks nicer, gets better mileage AND guess what??? Subaru is still ALIVE AND KICKING!!!

Since I'm such a nice guy, I'll do an even trade....

Body is shared with the Opel Vectra (not imported to USA)
Engine shared with a Cadillac CTS
Chassis shared with a SAAB 9-3 (also defunct)

 

Pros:

More comfortable and way more powerful than a Prius.
Slightly newer.
No worries about traction battery failure or other hybrid system failure.
Your friends will no longer make fun of you.

Cons:

Made by GM.
Made by GM. (I know I listed this twice - I really, really hate GM!)
3.6L engine needs premium gas.
Almost certain to have minor issues and likely to require a major repair if owned 5 years or more.
Up to $1000 more per year in fuel cost if you drive 20K miles per year - like me.

Advantage: Prius
