Toyota still supplying new HV batteries ? Greentec option ?

    Our 2007 with 203,000 miles and original HV battery just threw the P3000 code. I took it to a local mechanic who works on Priuses who checked the codes. He said only the High Voltage battery itself has failed.

    I called the local Toyota dealer parts department who quoted a price of $CAD3121 for a new one, but said they are back-ordered. He didn't know for how long or when they supplied the last one.

    Is Toyota still supplying new batteries for Gen 2 ?

    Greentec has a dealer in Canada so would be my next option. Is Greentec reliable ?

    I don't feel handy enough to take our pack apart and start testing cells for voltage and capacity.

    yes, they are still making them, but supply is spotty.

    greentec gets good and bad reviews. noreconditioned battery will be as reliable as a new battery.

    Sometimes a P3000 can be fixed by replacing the Voltage Sensor harness, which gets corrosion in the battery computer and once you clean that corrosion off and spend $50 on a new set of wires: Hybrid Battery Wire Harness for Gen 2 (2004-2009) Toyota Prius | ACENBAY the car will run great and there's nothing wrong with the pack.

    If you ever drive south of the border to the state capitol in Washington State, I'd be willing to help you out.

    I agree with PriusCamper. The P3000 code does not mean you need to replace the HV battery. It means that there is a malfunction in the HV battery. Trouble code P0A80 means the HV battery needs replaced. Do you have the P0A80 code?

    Of course at this point @ChapmanF usually shows up to say say there's 5 different subcodes to P3000 for 5 different reasons related to pack blocks not being balanced.

    Good thoughts. I took the car to Tennyson Automotive in Victoria who services many of the taxis in Victoria. Almost all of our taxis are Prius and Camry hybrids. He used his reader to check for sub-codes and told me it's just the battery. He didn't tell me which codes he read.
