Just wanted to share a photo of the only mods I'll likely be doing on my new Prius. I swapped out the OEM 17" wheels with new Enkei RPF1s in 17x8 that weigh only 15.6 pounds!

The car also has 20% tint all around with an application of Llumar AirBlue tint on the windshield.

A quick photoshop is tempting me to lower it!

Nice, but watch out the cops who see the front window tint not legal in CA.

i have my front airblue'd as well....theres honestly no way a cop could tell unless he was tipped off and checked it out (even then he'd have to know what he was looking for).

that looks awesome by the way.....I'd vinyl the top black, but thats about it.

-what'd you lower your car with?
-how do you like the 17s? (notice any acceleration/braking changes)
im going with 11lbs 16" wheels i think....but i really really really dig the look of 17's and 18's

The style of the rims make them look smaller than factory 17", but lowering the car seems to erase this effect so I second the recommendation to lower it.

Any change in mpg with the new rims? I'm curious if the less aerodynamic design cancels out the decreased weight.

i never realized how high the prius sits. A 1.5" drop or so makes it look much much better

If you live in the South or if it's not your only car, I suppose you can get away with it. Personally, I'd rather try a body kit and run stock height, as opposed to stock body + lowered 1.5" I just like the wheels to fill the body symmetrically, not have the top of the tires almost touching the wheel wells.

What would be the trouble with putting 17" wheels on a model IV or less; would the speedo and odo be off?

Is the suspension on the Prius V actually different other than having 17" wheels? I have heard only opinions, and as of yet no factual information. The dealer staff are clueless. Anyone have specs?

All the trim levels have the same European-tuned suspension.

Interesting. The 2010 brochure lists the turning circle diameter, curb to curb in feet as 34.2 for 15 inch wheel and 36 for 17 inch wheel.

Correct. The steering ratios/lock-to-lock numbers are different for the 15" and 17" wheel Prius. The 17" wheel electric power steering has a brushless motor system that allows the tighter ratio. However, this is different from the suspension, which you asked about.

What color is your interior? I'm thinking of getting tint done on my Prius. However, darker interior makes the tint look darker than it actually is. I have bisque interior.. I'm thinking 30 all around, except the windshield. What do you think? 20% seems a bit dark and asking for police attention haha.
