Here is a link (Toyota on PHEVs) to a 33 slide powerpoint presentation on the current Prius plug-in demonstration car, statistics applicable to design considerations, and some design specifics. It is given by Shizuo Abe, general manager of Hybrid Systems Engineering Division, Toyota.

There are also other interesting PHEV related presentations on this page from a conference (EVS-23 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle Workshop) in California Dec. 2, 2007.

If you have a dial-up connection, prepare to wait a long time. Scroll down on the timetable to 1:30 to 2:00 for the Toyota presentation.
I found the graph on page 16 the most interesting. Good for shutting up the guys who get in my face about how their diesel is "better" than my Prius. ;)

Thankyou Eric for posting the URL.
