I was just checking out my account at Toyota Owners (Beta) verifying that the Owner's Manuals links were working and I found lots of new (?) How-To Videos. I think they have been busy at Toyota USA.

You may have to create an account and sign on to veiw them. But they have lots of great shots and information.

Sorry about the BOLD text but it does not want to turn off after I pasted the big copy.

Here is a link to Toyota Owners (Beta):

Toyota did the smart thing and hosted all of these videos on YouTube. You can see a full playlist here:
    Prius V - manual - YouTube

BTW, has anyone compiled all the various Manual PDF files into 1 big PDF?

Does one really need videos like these to operate a car? I mean, they actually say nothing you cannot read on the user's manual or even test it yourself...
Instead of making videos they should listen to customers and take action (e.g. FM radio not working properly on Prius 3rd ten, knocking at cold, etc...)
    Shouldn't they?

While one owner does not need videos like these, there will be another owner that does. I know you have seen some "simple" questions posted here on PriusChat. I have come to realized that Owner's Manuals are not always written well, and some people just don't read them at all.

I say, shouldn't Toyota make nice instructional videos AND listen to customers.

It isn't like there is a meeting somewhere at Toyota and a whiteboard that says:
    What to do today:
    - Fix customer complaints
    - Make videos
And some Japanese guy stands up and screams "MAKE VIDEOS!" and an 80s movie style party breaks out.

Do other cars have such videos? since when are videos needed to show people how to use cars of which they should take a bit of time to read the manual? I mean, you buy a xxk$/k€ car and in your busy, busy, busy life you cannot take 1 hour of your precious time to read the manual once?
I still think videos, with this "depth" of content, are simply useless.
If you cannot or don't want to read the user's manual of a car, you shouldn't have bought the car in the first place. If the manual is too complicated, complain to the customer service that the user's manual is crap. But I don't see the solution in videos (of this content quality)...

I believe most people are generally of the 'boobtube'. Be shown, not read. I mean, I remember in the 80s, people didn't know how to set their VCR clocks and have a hard time doing things without being shown how to do them.

The other problem is mostly just people look at a big manual and don't want to read what they want to find out about the device. Which is all to common nowadays with 'simplicity'. Everyone wants things to just 'work'. Don't be surprised that the same applies across the way.

    ---

BTW, when you look at the US Toyota site for Owner Manuals... OI... It's hard to find things to read because not only is it broken down into section, it isn't in order of the manual, so it makes fall back references hard to find as you go, 'Is it this one? Or this one?' to find the section. And yes, I have looked at some of the manuals, and noticed that in some cases, it isn't clear on certain things, which was sort of annoying.

I find them useful as someone shopping for a new car. The spec sheet says it has this or that feature, and that is well and good, but the videos show exactly how it works. It was helpful in determining which options were useful to me and which were not.

I watched practically all of them before I bought my 4Runner because it showed exactly how the feature worked without having to sit at the dealer trying to do it. The fact is that a lot of people cannot take what is on paper and translate it to completing the task.

Again, I think you are being overly dramatic and hyperbolic by assuming that Toyota isn't working on quality issues with the vehicles and is instead making instructional videos.
