I have few questions regarding to Toyota genuine Oil:
Is Toyota Oil better than other full synthetic brands in the market?
Why it doesn't have expiry date while other brand have? (we might be using expired oil)!! 13710070_10153701574505544_7315896786512260299_n.jpg 13775540_10153701574640544_1194254592784680753_n.jpg

Well...based on the can photo is it fully synthetic?
I don't see where that is indicated.

The expiration date I have never noticed on oil containers before OP points this out.

So. oil additives expire over time while in use, yet I am unsure if the additives use themselves up while on the shelf.

Oil itself can last decades, its the additives that expire, so annual oil changes are to flush the used oil of carbon the oil has picked up from combustion and to refresh the additives.

Back to the photo, SN number seems to be a current release/ formula value.
    0 winter is good.

Is Toyota oil better than Mobil One or Redline in a start stop hybrid motor like in a Prius?
    I do not know.
If on warranty, for conservatism and potential claims just use the Toyota product.

    So there a partial answer.

Good luck in your research and decisions.

Youcef, you are probably closer to the source of the oil in that can than we are.

I have not noticed an expiration date on the oil sold here. I buy on price as I believe 0W-20 oil is 0W-20 and that claims of exclusivity or superiority are just marketing hype.

However, if it makes you feel better: Toyota only buys the finest California Crude pumped at the height of freshness and refines it locally in Torrence to preserve its superior quality.

Actually here in NA the Toyota oil I buy is actually Mobil 1. Cool that you get it in metal cans. Here it's in plastic bottles.

The "truth" (if there is any in marketing) is Toyota buys their oil from oil companies, usually based on it meeting a specification. If you buy that oil labeled by the company as there own, there is no difference. If you buy oil from another company that meets the same specifications (listed on the container) there is no difference.

Well, here there is a slight difference. The Toyota dealers sell the "Toyota Mobil 1" for less than most others sell Mobil 1. ;)

Toyota oil for North America is made by Mobil, but to Toyota's unique specifications, so it's NOT Mobil1. Who makes Toyota oil sold in your country, or whether the specifications are the same, I do not know. I suspect very few PriusChat members know that.
