LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) -- Toyota Motor Corp. said Monday it plans to build up to 100,000 Camrys a year at a Subaru plant in Indiana, shifting most of the production of the model sold in the U.S. to American soil.

The production line, which will be operational a year from now, is expected to add 1,000 workers at the Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc. plant, which now employs 2,300, Toyota said. It continues the Japanese automaker's business strategy for North American production.

I know exactly where that plant is. I drive past it every once and a while on my way home. More jobs for Hoosiers.

Appearently the move will allow Toyota to expand its Prius output back in Nippon.

Man. This is another sad counter story of American Auto Industry.

Japanese car makers add production output and jobs, while American car makers close plants and get rid of workers.

I want free economy and all, but this is just sad. Sad for how my future tax money will go to bailing out these old world pigs... or to pay off those soon to be former employees and their retirement pensions.

I know where that plant is at too. I spent two years in Lafayette while I was attending Purdue.

 OWW! My eyes. It's that word, that ugly "P" word. Can't they move the plant a little closer to Bloomington? B)
