I filled up a customer satisfaction survey today from Toyota regarding my purchase of PiP earlier this month. The survey seemed to imply that Toyota Care will be available for 3 Years . I have not heard or read about the 3 Year duration before. Has any one else heard about it? Can you watch out for the question when you fill up your survey response? It will great benefit if the complimentary maintenance plan is extended by 1 Year for us PiP owners.
That's correct. Nathan from Carson Toyota told me the first five scheduled maintenance visits are free.
You know, I thought I had read that somewhere. But when looking on Toyota's site, I could only find a reference to just the roadside assistance being for 3 years, not the full "Toyota Care" package. 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid Like all other new Toyota vehicles, the Plug-in comes standard with Toyota Care [14], which offers complimentary maintenance and roadside service for two years or 25,000 miles. In addition, the Prius Plug-in will come with an extra year of roadside assistance, for a total of three years from date of purchase
So its , 2 Years/25K Miles of maintenance and 3 Years of road side assistance. "Toyota Care [27] featuring a complimentary maintenance plan with roadside assistance. Plug-in owners receive one additional year of roadside assistance, for a total of three years of roadside assistance from date of purchase"
The extra year may have come about due to customer concerns about the lack of a spare tire. Here is a quote from Erica of the Prius Team concerning a discussion of the leak sealant in the tire kit. There is no mention of extending the Toyota Care service plan. "Oh I really hope I don't regret sticking my neck into this fun thread, but I wanted to let you all know there will be more info coming out shortly on the tire repair kit. Our thinking is that this should be used as a last resort (think small puncture and stuck in a remote area with no cell coverage). Our recommendation will be that the first attempt should be to call roadside assistance rather than use the repair kit. As such, we are giving every Prius Plug-in an extra complimentary year (for a total of 3 years of Roadside Assistance). And, the lack of a spare in the PiP is due to space constraints rather than cost issues and we chose to prioritize the cargo and passenger space rather than cut into that to attempt to find room for a spare. Now I will quietly retreat from this heated discussion. " Best, Erica Gartsbeyn Prius Product Manager
