Since we got jacked $619 upon purchase of our Prius because of the "Toyoguard Paint Sealant" protection they added at port, we thought we'd go ahead and try the sealant cleaner included in the package today. They recommend using this at 3 month intervals, and it was about that time. So here's what we observed.

Application: Very much like a wax compound. You apply, let dry to a haze and continue.

Removal: Here's the "EWW" part. Unlike waxes, trying to remove this stuff was like trying to remove baking soda spread all over the car. It was fine and powdery and after wiping all of it off as best we could, we had to wash the car. And I don't notice a hell of a lot of difference.

Conclusion: Waste of an hour of my day. I'm going to stick to washing weekly and waxing as necessary.

I have to disagree with you there. I didn't do it on the whole car, only a portion of the hood, hoping to get rid of some bird/bug stains out. Buffed off fine, left a teflon like gloss. I believe it says to not apply in sun, and not store the opened product in the car. Did you adhere to the precautions?

Yes, we kept the bottle in the house since the day we got the car and did it in the shade. We even let the car cool off for quite a while in the shade after washing it.

We shook the bottle thoroughly and applied according to the instructions on the bottle. The powder left on the car after the solution dried was really fine and stuck to everything! Did you have powder all over the area you applied this stuff to?

I agree there was a shine... except we had to wash that infernal powder off before we saw it. We're going to stick to bug remover and car wax from now on.
