2002 prius was towed in gear and now NO obd2 communications. Can't find any bad fuses or relays. Now what?
What the car driving fine before the tow? why did you tow it? how far did you tow? What voltage is the 12V? If you towed in more than a few hundred feet with front wheels on the ground you may have ruined the transaxle.
I had just bought it. It passed smog. I drove it 60 miles with out any codes. Wife drove it the next morning. During her drive the warning lights came on and she was stuck in traffic lanes. Another motorist pushed her car, with his, a few hundred feet to get her off the road. I suspect it was still in gear. When I got to it, it was a paper weight. The car won't respond at all.
I thought you said you cannot communicate to the OBD2 port? How do you know BOTH batteries are fine? What kind of Scanner do you have? If you cannot communicate via the OBD2 port a fuse (or computer) is blown somewhere. You'll need to obtain the wiring diagram and follow power from 12V battery to the various systems in the car. There's a main fuse in the under engine bay fusebox that is a royal PITA to replace if blown since it is BOLTED IN from underneath, and dealers don't stock it so you'll have to special order it if blown.
At first all was done with volt meters. When that didn't work and the car still wouldn't talk I got creative. I've been swapping out components out with my other working car (same model and yaer). First to swap was the 12v battery. When that didn't work i swapped out the other battery bank. I've swapped out three component computers and none made my working car fail. Where is this main fuse you speak of. I'm not seeing it in the repair manuals?
It might be called a fusible link. It's in the engine bay drivers side fusebox. I think it's 100 amp, blue, back of the fusebox close to the inverter. It has a clear top so you should be able to see if it's blown.
