Too much dust on the dash board

I use 303 Protectant, don't know if it reduces static or not but I don't have much and I live in a dry climate. California Dash Duster works pretty good for getting the dust off.

 

I wash the inside and outside of my car every week and just wipe down the dash with a damp cloth. I drive with my windows open a lot too and its not too bad.

 

We have a dash mat which we really like. I guess we could take it out and vacuum it from time to time but I don't really notice any dust...

 

My Prius since Sept 2009 did not get any abnormal amount of dust on the dashboard. OK, I live in an area that is pretty rainy, but I don't see any difference with my older car that actually was getting *more* dusty than the Prius.
I do drive with the windows always closed though.

 

I use a Swiffer refill to clean the dust. Works well and quick.

 

I turn the AC Filter mode on every morning. I don't drive with my windows down. No issues since i bought it in April 2010. However, if i had to clean, then i just use baby wipes.

 

I second this recommendation. A box of dry Swiffer refills are relatively cheap, and will last forever if only used to keep a dash dust free. You can reseal in a plastic bag and use over several times. I'd avoid clear plastic, but in all other respects they are excellent at removing dust from plastic dash's.

 

The 2010 Prius has something called a "Plasma Cluster" which is an electonic air cleaner, operating out of the driver's side air vent. This device tends to attract & cause increased amounts of dust on the dash! Just wipe the dash more often!

 

Move out of Toronto, it is nothing but a big dust hole anyway

 

I would use a micro-fiber cleaning cloth, the ones used for delicate surfaces, LCD screens and crystal (for example). Micro-fiber attracts dust and with water can remove stains and dirt without the use of detergent. You can wash it in the washing machine and it is brand new (almost... ).

 

I've been using California Car dusters on my cars for a long time.

The dash duster is great for interiors, particularly black or dark gray. You can get them in auto parts store for under $10, and they last forever:

I live in southern New Mexico. It is all dust here. If I leave the windows cracked, cause the sun is generating 100+ degree weather... the inside of my Prius gets to about 130 degrees or more.

But cracking the windows I get a generous layer of dust on my dash every 2 days or so.

I have not used any static guard on my dash, but that sounds like a good idea.

We have super dust in New Mexico.
