Picked this up recently and will be installing it to monitor each tire.

    Will update with pictures once installed. Screenshot_2023-07-06-17-41-07-1.jpeg Screenshot_2023-07-06-17-41-20-1.jpeg Screenshot_2023-07-06-17-41-29-1.jpeg Screenshot_2023-07-06-17-41-54-1.jpeg 20230706_174605.jpeg 20230706_174639.jpeg

This would be a nice upgrade if it was was mounted into the dash in a professional looking way... How do those pressure sensor valve caps look compared to standard caps? They appear to be much larger diameter than the valve, but maybe it's just the photo?

Any chance you can post a photo of both cap types for side by side for comparison?

This is the location where I think would be best to easily view the monitor.

I have set the heated seat buttons to the side for now and will have to think of a permanent location.

I do have two other blank locations but I do not like the viewing angle.

Best option would be to source this panel.

Anyone know the part number to this one?

Said to be only on a plug in prius.

For now my heater switch hangs to the side but it is still works. Screenshot_2023-07-08-17-41-49-1.jpeg

I like the location on the advertisement it is higher up near the air vent. Where you have it is below the center console bridge. I can’t readily see the gas pedal from the seated position the monitor would be hard to see, at least for me….

I was thinking about installing the display next to the dim mmer wheel because all you have to do is pull the panel downward and pop out one of the blanks and insert display. . The display will be on your left rather than bend down toward cigarette lighter.

So those caps press down on the schrader valve in order to see the pressure? Then you crank them tight with the wrench?

I have read the viewing angle needs to be good as it can be hard to see with some locations.

Also sunlight glare can be an issue.

As for the valve monitors, they get locked with the nut and wrench for security reasons, so Im sure you can just screw them on.

I have not fully set them in yet but they are big.

I will keep mine where it is at. I have already sourced the part needed to make it look completely stock like the picture I posted with dual switches.

Stay tuned for complete install pics coming soon.

Can you please share a pic of tire valve caps installed so we can see how much larger they are than normal?

I've had the exact same question and I've asked twice and still no answer... I don't understand why he keeps ignoring our question?

Early Gen 3 don’t have direct TPMS? (Our ‘12 has them).

Those sensors have batteries so their mass applies force on valve stem, especially if a rubber stem…

Is this a case of: just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you have to?

The stock setup will warn you if you’ve got a significant pressure drop; then you’ve got a 2 minute chore going ‘round with a pressure gauge, to determine who’s low. May even be visually obvious.

I can live that, versus cluttering up the dash, with a display that’ll be fun for a while, then forgotten.

I used cheaper external TPMS on my winter wheels which had no internal sensors installed. It works and is more informative than OEM dumb TPMS. The problem is... those external sensors are not durable. They are exposed to elements unlike the one inside tires. Mine lasted only one winter. And after one sensor dies, there is no way to buy an individual sensor and re-program the head unit. So I just had to replace the entire kit for around $30.

If you have to hardwire and permanently install the head display unit in-dash, then annual replacement may become unbearable.

Alright priuscamper to answer YOUR question on how big the valve caps are, here are some pics.

They are about the size of a nickel.

The external sensor caps are large and ugly. Mine was black as shown in the photo below. But my problem was it never lasted more than two winters. And more than once, it corroded onto the valve stem threads and could not be removed without destroying the sensor. I would not recommend using the external TPMS sensor caps in places where it sees salt on the road.

Although I could have lived without having functional TPMS during winter, I ended up installing "cloned" Autel TPMS sensors (internal sensors as shown in the second photo) into those winter wheels. No display, but functional TPMS. And since they were cloned from the OEM TPMS sensors in summer AS tires/wheels, no warning light after tire changes and no need to re-learn the sensor ID using Techstream or other tire tools which I could do with my Autel TS508. But just swap and go was easier.
