I heard (somewhere) that tinting the windows on my Prius might be a problem. Has anyone heard anything about this? I live in Arizona and that is pretty much a necessity down here in the summer!!

Have you driven yours in a summer yet? I see a lot of crappy looking after-market window tinting in Dallas. I wouldn't get it unless there seemed to be no alternative. A Sunshade for the windshield and remembering to park facing *south* all the time is a lot cheaper.

I've seen many a tinted Prius here in AZ - no problems whatsoever reported by the owners.

Maybe more people know how to do it right in Phoenix than in Dallas. That would be typical.

Did they tint the little triangle windows? That seems tough.

I sprung for the good stuff and saw an immediate improvement in gas mileage on really hot days. Before I tinted the glass, the rear seat passenger could not get comfortable in the afternoon. I used Huper Optik in the darkest tint allowed. I payed 400 dollars and they did all but the front glass. It took a couple of weeks for the small water bubbles to disappear and now you can't tell it's tinted, except the AC runs less than it used to. I highly recommend this product.

I got Huper Optik as well. For the 50% which is almost clear with all the windows tinted excluding the front (so 9 windows), adjustments to my clear bra, the side moulding and door edge guards installed for a total of $450. In my case, I had them open just for me so the car was done in 2 hours.

Hey all. I tinted mine basically on day 1. (See "I have the coolest Prius Ever" Post) and there's been never a problem to report. LOVE the extra privacy and the added looks to my black #9 package. Be sure you get it done right. I love the company in Cali that did my tinting but upon the first job they didn't do the tiny windows in front of their main front windows. I came back and asked them to do 'em though. 20 min and $0 extra dollars later, all done. LOVE IT! I highly recommend tinting. No probs AT ALL.

The Prius manual mentions that the metal used in tinting windows may interfere with the GPS system.
