On my 2019 Toyota Camry, if I quickly take my foot off the accelerator (which I am prone to do), the pedal also snaps up quickly and makes kind of a thunk. The Toyota dealer says there's no problem, they are all like that. Another regular occupant of the car says it is annoying, plus after a hundred thousand miles of that won't the pedal be likely to break or something?
It didn't seem to happen on our Gen III Prius.
Anyone else heard anything like that? Anyone else think it is something to worry about?
    Thanks.

Sounds like it is just the pedal snapping into the stop. It's normal, will cause no harm. If you are concerned, learn to ease off the pedal.

Thanks, Trollbait. That's what I was hoping to hear.

If the throttle is sticking that could be really dangerous! I've never had this problem in a new car but lived through 3x such events in the distant past.

Thanks. It doesn't seem to be sticking--it comes up quickly.
But I should ask you if that's a sound like what you heard when you did have a sticking throttle?

Well all 3 events were different. I was thinking in your case if it stuck momentarily and then snapped back out it might make a thunk.

I had a frayed cable that just stuck but never snapped back, a idle adjustment screw that came loose and kept the car going 70 MPH and an EGR valve that fell off leaving an open hole in the throttle body that let air in. All 3 resulted in a racing engine, yikes!

Those were old cars and that was a long time ago.

Maybe a long time ago, but the galaxy ain't that far away.
Thanks. I don't think that mine are like any of these, but I may do some tests.
