Since there are Prius clubs in various parts of the country and there are none in the Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, etc.) yet, how much interest would there be in forming one?

For those of you already in Prius clubs, what kind of things do you do in your meetings? How often do you meet? Do you have presentations? By Toyota techs, dealerships or somebody else (if so, by who and what kind of presentations)? What kind of social events do you have? Car shows or trips? What do you do about recruiting and retaining membership? Do you limit your club to Prii only, or do you have a non brand specific Hybrid Car club? Any advantages or disadvantages of either? Mow much or how little of a formal structure works best for you? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

sign me up! it would be neat to get who we can together and have a Prius caravan ride through the Triangle area... that would turn some heads! maybe we could get attention that way.

    galaxee,

My brother who lives in Haw River (NC) and works in Georgia, driving back and forth one round trip per week, said he might just buy a Prius to take the place of his Honda that has 175,000 miles on it. I included him via email on my internet negotiations prior to the sale, Monday evening just this week. We are two of eight children reared in Saxapahaw, NC, by my parents. Mom soon turns 82 and she also lives at a Haw River address.

I think I'd be interested as well. I'm over here in Greensboro and wouldn't mind an occasion trip over to the Raliegh/Durham area.

BTW, I'll be flying up to Northern VA and picking mine up tomorrow.

    Congrats Dan! :)

Now to spread the word. There are a few of us and a bit of work can get things going. How about flyers to put on windshields of Prii we see in parking lots or something?

I also set up an email account for our new group, [email protected]

How about discussing our first Prius get-together? Ideas, anyone?

I would be in also. For our impromptu club, I offer a brand new 01 to 03 prius Toyota factory air filter for best offer and also the original DVD for XM install for best offer. I'm willing to help install XM if you treat my wife and I to lunch.

So, when and where should we hold our first meeting? Would you all be up for this weekend, say Saturday afternoon? Since we have interested parties from all over the Triangle and beyond, how about somewhere centrally located, perhaps at a restaurant in RTP? Thoughts?

Danny, that would be great! Please do!

A PriusChat email address is much more fun than a boring old Yahoo address.

    Thoughts, anyone?

Next weekend should work as well. I see someone mentioned mabye a restaraunt in the RTP area, that sounds like it could work out well.

BTW, I did bring the Prius home this past monday. It's quite wonderful.

Congrats DanH on bringing your new baby home! Did you get one from Koons in Northern Va.? What color and options did you get?

Next weekend sounds good for me too. Friday evening is out, but I'm still wide open Saturday and Sunday. Shall we say Saturday afternoon at 3:00 pm? To randomly pick a restaurant in RTP, how about we meet in the parking lot of Golden Corral on Hwy. 55 near the intersection with Hwy. 54?

Could we go with Sunday sometime instead? My husband really wants to come but he works Saturdays.

Yes, I did go with Tom at Koons in VA. I got a Seaside Pearl (everybody so far loves the color and it was our first choice.) AM (#4) package. I decided to make the move with them when I saw they were offering them a little off MSRP for a short while, Toyota was raising the price $100 in April and the price of gas was on the rise again. (Not to mention the uncertainty of our local dealer actually being able to order an AM when our time came on the list.) It looks like it was a good thing I did. Tom's latest post says demand as been going up again, especially on AM's (#4's).

Congrats again on your Seaside #4. That would have been my first choice in colors if it would have been available with the gray interior.

Sunday sounds fine for me too. How about next Sunday at 3:00 pm at the Golden Corral on Hwy 55 near Hwy 54?

Re: Thoughts about forming new Prius Club in Raleigh/Durham

Whoops, just noticed this topic! :)
-- I've been busying myself with reading and searching through archives and finding out lots of new, interesting things about my Prius. In my poking around on the PriusChat site, I was surprised there hasn't already been an interest in a Raleigh/Durham chapter.
I've been seeing an increasing number of Prius in the RTP area over the last few months, so I would say a new Raleigh/Durham Prius Users-Group would be over-due!
If nothing else, perhaps an impromptu gathering to begin with (if it hasn't already been done ;) ) and then maybe more people will start showing-up, as long as we keep letting people know there is a group getting together.
I supposed that means I will need to start actually paying attention to the "chat" aspect of the site more-often! :)
Thanks for starting this topic! Posting has never been my thing, but I guess I'll have to get used to it. Odd, I guess, for a techy like myself. But at least here I have a subject I'm interested in -- My New Prius! :)
    Take Care,
