You can download the firmware from your car onto your USB flash drive. It shouldn't take more than a couple minutes as I tried it with 2.2.0. The file size for 2.2.0 is 14.5mb so I can't imagine the newer release is that much bigger. After download, you'd have to either email or upload the file to a FTP site. Any volunteer? Thanks!

I could be wrong, but I checked the 2.2.0 that I downloaded to my flash drive and I couldn't see anything that would suggest personal data being downloaded. Furthermore, there's an option that you can actually backup contacts and stuff which is not what I'm talking about here.

    here are the steps:
setup>general>scroll down>system information>lower right corner you'll see "copy to USB"

And I think it should be more than just 1.8mb. My 2.2.0 as mentioned was 14.5mb.

I could try tonight when I get home. I just had my 15K inspection and they updated my Entunes to 3.1.

    Setup> general> scroll down > back up I think
Or it gives you an option once you plugin the device

well i just downloaded it quickly to my usb drive, but the sum of the total file is only1.77mB after being zipped up. I'm not sure if this correct. I'm kind of afraid to upload it in case it contains just my own data files since the size is so small.

    Can anyone confirm this?

We discussed that menu option on the head unit before and I think it was concluded that the data you get when you use that download option is your own data (phonebook, contact list, etc).

Although 1.8MB seems rather large just for phonebook.

I think the car needs to be at rest to see that System Information menu.

I cant find the post(s) here where it was discussed, but here's someone else's comment from another forum:

I screenshot the 2.2.0 folder that I downloaded, you can clearly see 2.2.0 in the bottom window. Not sure if that means Entune is also downloaded. Unless someone has actually tried installing, I'm not fully convinced this doesn't also download Entune. Just by looking at it doesn't tell you much.

I created the backup on my Prius c, which has 2.2.0 installed, and I got the same as shown in post #17. This is *not* a full Entune backup. The folder on my USB drive is also NaviSync, and the total size of its contents is 780KB.

When I received the red USB backup stick from Toyota in June 2012 (the only update that has ever been distributed). I saved the content:

    Entune-USB-2012-06.jpg

The USB stick as received contained only the swdl.iso file. The swdLog.txt file was created during the update and contains the results of the installation process.

See my post from last year with details of what's in the ISO file.

Without the ISO file, you don't have the Entune software.

I still have 2.1.0 so I will even be happy with 2.2.0 as I get the dreaded can't navigate from your current location error on the occasion.
