The 19” Michelins low sidewall tires are quiet enough…and smooth on freeways. In town tho, small pavement irregularities are felt. Is there a switch out to a thicker, non performance tire that might provide a bit more cushioning which will fit the rims (and the tire wells)? Thanks.

Nowadays several Tire resellers are reluctant to vary dimensions more than 3% oner/under dealer OEM's. In our case that means the 250/50/17's can only go up to 53% of width .... despite being plenty of room inside the fenders for turning. Of course Michelin & likely no one else even makes that 53% of tire width size. So good luck trying to get one of the tire companies to install anything out of spec.

Unfortunately, it seems very unlikely you will find what you're looking for in a 19" tire. You'd be better off going with an 18" or 17" wheel/tire setup.

Any taller sidewalls that improve what you want will throw off the calibration of the speedometer and odometer. You'll need to step down the wheel size to avoid that.

the 18" wheels on our hycam seem to have reasonable sidewalls

Just on a side note. I had a 2020 Prius Prime and doing same route back and forth to work was 41.2 miles. Now with my new 2023 Prius Prime Premium 19 inch tires on the same identical route it records 39.7 miles.

Which is accurate? Seems like recording the GPS distance to establish the actual distance would be valuable, especially easy to do with any handheld GPS and you're driving to work anyway.
