I thought it would be cool to post pics of our cars that we are turning into the dealers under the "Cash for Clunkers" program, then along side that a picture of our new Prius; furthermore, it would be cool to see the affects of our choices in numbers like the comparison data on fueleconomy.gov. What we will begin to have is a single thread that clearly shows the enviromental impact and fuel consumption rate reduction in relation to the CARS program. I am getting mine (hopefully) on the 24th but if you have already have utilized the CARS program to get your Prius feel free to start posting now!

(add pics of the actual car you had and the new Prius HERE), then post the data underneath) directions for posting data- right click on image of data, scroll to convert to PDF, open the PDF, then save as a jpeg, download as attachment on thread. this will make it so there is more replies on a single page.

I am trading in my 96 Ford Crown Victoria that gets 18MPG for a 50MPG+ 2010 Prius. I have to wait until July 24th to seal the deal though.

Looks like many of us will have to wait until Monday.

    http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...-down-cash-clunkers-july-24th.html#post908952

Turns out that starting Friday, dealerships can 'register' to participate in the program. Once they do, they need to wait and be approved, at which point they will be issued a userid/password to login to the Clunkers system in order to process vehicles. The approval process is expected to take at least 2 days. Tag on the fact that it's a weekend...

Call your dealership; I believe many dealerships were notified of the process today and should have the updated information on the registration process.

so i went into my dealer and was ready to buy our blue ribbon prius today. they didn't have it in stock but had the VIN so we were going to do the paperwork on it. and this is all after actually having a bliz pearl with a deposit and the dealer sold it out from under us! so here we are settling for our back up color and the dealer already sold it! so in desperation we asked ok what others are coming in he said there was a silver coming in but there is no VIN on it yet and we can't do paperwork yet and he doesn't know when the VIN is going to show up! we are trying not to miss out on the "Cash for Clunkers" and the no sales tax in washington state ending on the 31st.

we went over to the honda dealership to look at their hybrids. we didn't like the insight and we moferatly like the civiv hybrid. the insight seems like a severly smaller prius and revs quite a bit going up hills. the civic is a bit better but they are more money.

every dealer we visited said the funds could be gone by the 27th, and there might be some truth and fiction there. but we are taking chance by not doing something soon.

is anyone else seeing this or hearing the samething?

the thing is that, if we get the camry hybrid he will sell it to us for invoice. plus our clunker at $4500 and $2000 dollar incentive. puts it about what we were going to pay for our prius with TRD wheels/tires package.

our salesman is going to see if he can get the VIN tomorrow or sunday for the prius coming in.

does anyone have any advice for me. or is there any dealers that use this forum that can help me out with getting a prius in washington.

Clueless as to how long the $ will last

I don't know. I wish there was a way to gauge this cross country. I know my store sold 32 cars and took in over 2 dozen clunkers. And, we are 1 dealership on day 1.
At this rate, who knows?! I don't know how we'll tell yet.

    Alternate avenues?
    1. Start calling around locally, and widen the net to find a local car.
    2. Buy a III with 0 options. Just an EJ. That's barely $1000 more and might be easier to find?
    3. Call south to Oregon, as they also have 0 sales tax. I'd recommend you call me (I am $1,000 under MSRP today and Saturday on all II's), but the Clunkers thing requiring the heap to be driven here combined with my CA sales tax being required if you don't ship the new car would kill the savings. :(

Sorry you're stressing. You shouldn't be!

i managed to cut the lying slimeball salesman out of the picture and i have a bliz pearl package II coming, unfortunately i won't be able to get the no tax deal because my salespaerson dicked me around so much and i may not even get CFC money, hopefully the funds last long enough for my dealer to get the VIN on my prius so we can get the deal done.

thank you Diane i wish that i were closer to your dealership. my whole intent with staying local was i wanted to create a good relationship with my local dealer, because i value that. i just really hope that when the salesmanager and i talked numbers that he can make up for the fact that his salesperson made it impossible for us to get the Washington state no sales tax, it equated to about $1700 after the $4500 voucher. when i first made my deal on the prius with the salesperson i was going to pay msrp and i had no problem with that, i understood that the prius's wwere a hot item and as long as they treated me good and i had no problem paying for it. i believe that if a dealer earns it than i will be happy to pay for great customer service.

thank you for all of your comments.

now that it is a couple days past the 24th start posting your stats, i have an example on the first post. let's see how or good buying choices are improving on past ones.:welcome:
