    Summary:
    • Uses Panasonic "HIT solar cells", same ones used in residential roof applications
    • "HIT solar cells" are less likely to be affected by high temperatures (i.e. reduction in power generation capacity is less likely to be present)
    • This will be the first application of solar panels used for motive power in a vehicle (previous applications such as the 3rd Gen Prius served to only cool the car)
    • They want to expand the use of solar panels as an auxiliary power source (use it more as a backup power source)
    • Want to incorporate solar panels into other applications rather than just the roof (e.g. windows)
