2025 LEXUS RC AND RC F: A SONOROUS SWAN SONG - Lexus USA Newsroom

The "poor man's Lexus coupe" :D will not be hybridized or electrified in any way and 2025 will be the last year they will be made. The 2025 model will keep the various engined RC models 8AR-FTS 2.0L Turbo (RC 300 RWD only), the venerable 2GR-FKS 3.5L NA V6 (RC 300 AWD, RC 350 RWD, RC 350 AWD), and of course the 2UR-GSE 5.0L NA V8 (RC F only). The 2025 models start as low as $46,445 for the RC 300 and quickly climb up to the RC F Final Edition for $94,000. Knew a couple of engineers, when I was still working, who binged on one during COVID. They absolutely loved them and said it was the best car they ever owned.

Apparently electrifying a rather niche car genre like a luxury coupe with low sales wasn't really financially sound. Last year they sold 1,854 of all varieties and the LC, which brings in more money, wasn't far behind with 1,464 sales. Yes you can still get the LC 500h with its Multistage Hybrid, but it starts at around $103,575.

Looking at the Europe Lexus site the RC, GS and IS are already discontinued. You would think the IS would be next on the chopping block, but it is a rather big seller for the NA market, raking in almost as many sales in December (1,458) as the RC did the entire year. It's very popular among first time buyers and has the same engine setup as the RC: the 8AR-FTS 2.0L Turbo (IS 300 RWD only), the 2GR-FKS 3.5L NA V6 (IS 300 AWD, IS 350 RWD, IS 350 AWD), and of course the 2UR-GSE 5.0L NA V8 (IS 500 only). IMHO if they made the RC a hatchback, it may have sold a lot better.
