Well put those memories back. The Honda Clarity should and hopefully will die a similar death.

 

I can almost hear Lutz saying: We built an electric car in 1966 & nobody wanted it when gas was 29c a gallon.

 

Hydrogen Electrovan ... the 1st of many many R & D wasted millions. But don't worry - is wasn't GM's wasted millions for the most part. Nope, tax dollars. Too bad they couldn't have just kept the millions to help clean up the toxic waste land that is GM abandoned manufacturing sights ... given over for Federal clean up ... part of what WE got, in return for bailing GM out of bankruptcy. Ahhh - but I digress . . . .

Really? Memories? I like memories. How 'bout THIS one - GM buying up electric streetcars, crushing them like they did EV1's decades later, simply so they could sell stinking smoky buses as mass transit.

If you are ever in Northern California between San Francisco and Sacramento, stop at this museum
Western Railway Museum - Solano County - California
It's primarily light rail. Don't miss the 50 minute interurban ride that runs about 3 times a day. It goes a few miles out into the rolling prairie. When I took the ride it was in a 1915 street car and for a good share of the ride there was nothing in sight except the passengers to tell you it wasn't 1915.

It runs on a rebuilt section of an interurban line that ran from Oakland California to Chico California by way of Sacramento in the early 20th century. Over 100 miles.

 

The transportation museum in St. Louis, MO is really worth your time if you are in the vicinity. Museum of Transportation
