So I found out the 08 Prius will come with some verrry nice improvements in all departments - looks, power, fuel economy... Since I'm in no rush to buy a car now, I'll be waiting for the new model.

How long are you interested in waiting to buy a Prius?

That new model will be officially presented in 2008 and will not be delivered until the 2009 model. That means about a year to wait, maybe even more.

May be worth the wait, but I decided to shop this year.

I guess I'll wait a couple of months till we know for sure what the 08 model will be like and then I can make my decision. Rumors are that the 08 will come with possibly 80 mpg and the 09 over 100. So i guess I'll just give it a few months till Toyota comes out with official info on all this.

My dealer says that he has not received any indications of any changes for the 2008 model. Everything at Toyota is now being concentrated on the new 2009 model.

I thought I saw some postings earlier that some expected to get the 2008 model pretty soon. Don't think they mentioned anything about any big changes from 2006-2007 to 2008.

Maybe I'm wrong. Time will tell.

I'm just waiting for my (probably) 2007 Prius estimated for delivery mid September. I just hope the quake in Japan won't delay this too much. The dealer has told me that my Prius will be produced either in Belgium or Turkey, but I guess many of the parts comes from Japan anyway. Just hope the Belgian built cars are better then the old Volvos (440/460/480) produced in Belgium. As for Turkey, well.....

Very old and likely innacurate news from article dated 1/19/07.

You must admit, the '09 has a nice aerodynamic, sleek shape to it, even if this pic is just an artist rendition !!
I like the new look of the "hatchback" area and sleeker roof and hoodlines !!

I am highly suspect of this image. For one, Toyota has started moving towards the distinctive grill:

Also, the back end of this car looks just like he back of the Nissan Z:

    repost?

but some of the information is good. The 1.8 litre ZR engine is highly likely (esp. since there's a 5-10% improvement in fuel efficient from those engines alone (which would be used in the Corolla/Matrix/xD)

So am I the only one who thinks this new Prius is ugly? It's an 80s-version of the car we all know and love. The wedge front is the worst part, and one of my favorite parts of the current model.

I'm very glad I have a 2007, and my wife and I are committed to driving it for at least 10 years.

Ugh. This artist's rendering has been around for ever. (Ok, several months.) Why do we keep getting all excited about what is very probably a photoshop? I do believe that the '09 (or whatever) will be improved but I do not believe that we have seen it yet.

I guess I'll buy the 07 Prius, as it appears next generation won't come for another year or two. The money I'll save from gas would make up for the loss of resale value in a couple of years when I have to sell it and get the new generation one, so the loss will be minimal.

 Good Luck, this late in the year, on finding a particular color and package you desire, unless you are not fussy and will accept one of several colors left.... that is IF you can find any 2007's now. Most people have been waiting MONTHS for their Prius.... very rare now to just go to a Toyota dealer and expect to find the color/package you really want !! Many people have already placed orders for the 2008 and are just waiting and waiting....

that picture has been deemed a fake, created by a die hard prius fan. Btw. though the new prius may come out in 2008 it is the 2009 model. So wait till August '08.
