Tesla Model 3 exclusive leaked specs: 0-60 under 4 sec fast and 300+ mile range options | Electrek

"According to a source who has seen the design that will be shown off tomorrow, it looks like a smaller hybrid of the Model X and S. It is a bit taller sedan with a unique front that looks more like a Model X than a Model S. The car is shorter and narrower than either the model X or S but is described as “sexy and sporty”...

One of the standout specs Tesla will tout is that it will be able to travel from 0-60 in under 4 seconds. We weren’t told if this is for the base model or a more premium edition with bigger battery and AWD...

Besides autonomous driving on the level of the Model S and X, Tesla will also offer the aforementioned AWD option. In addition, a battery pack that we’re estimating in the ~80kWh range will take the Model 3 to over 300 miles in range."

Wowza. If true, I may not be able to resist.

I'm guessing the 0-60 performance is top of the line, as is the 300 mile range.
However, Tesla has surprised me before...

That simply is not likely. GM is closest with 95,000 vehicles. Tesla may be out if you don't reserve today ;-) or tomorrow, damn I can't reserve today. This year maybe 40,000 or 45,000 tesla's sold in the US. Next year I expect that maybe 60,000 outside of the model 3 if things go really well. They have sold about 65,000 through 2015. That leaves room for at least 30,000 model 3s and I think many more. Then the credit is phased out, not ended at 200,000.

No I don't expect any of those first model 3s to not at least include autopilot, so we are talking $40,000 at least to get the first ones to qualify for the credit.

Will probably be a lot simpler to just lease a Bolt when they come out. Looks like a very practical car. I'm sure the Model 3 will be a lot prettier though!

It depends on what you want.

You could buy a volt or a fussion energi today. That is simple.

Bolt is a sonic type car, model 3 is a sports sedan.

Options? Super charger network, Autopilot, AWD.

My guess is at least 50,000 deposits on model 3. So your are going to wait. I put my deposit down.

With the Bolt, you are at the mercy of whatever fast charging network might exist if you are even considering trying a long trip. The Model 3 will have a Supercharger option at the very least.

I went in this afternoon. One guy has a S a guy behind me has a roadster with a 65kwh conversion (tesla changed out everything but conversion cost as much as a model 3). They were talking about driving to new orleans, houston and dallas. Superchargers make the houston or dallas from austin easy now. New orleans needs 1 more for that smaller pack, but the guy with the 85kwh can do it. 1 more year and that trip is easy. Still not too bad in a bolt, but its a different animal. With the model 3 it will probably be the real deal, but it's a much longer wait for the car.

Bolt has the range, but GM sees it as a local range car only. That could simply be because they have the Volt for those that want to go on longer trips more regularly. Whatever, the reason, GM isn't going to give much direct support, if any, for expanding the SAE fast DC charger network. So its growth will continue to be gradual and sporadic.

200 is what tesla came up with from their marketing. bmw 300 km, or 186 miles. 100 is from CARB, people when asked don't ever answer what CARB thinks.

My guess is 300 km *186 mile will be the minimum bev in 2030. PHEVs will have lower batter range ;-) gulf carts don't make the same profits if they have to conform to safety.

ioniq and leaf 30 kwh will be the test, they are around 100 mile cars. Can they sell once the bolt and model 3 are out? I doubt it.
