I listened to the podcast of this and was pleasantly surprised by their amazement at Tesla loyalty ... almost as strong as our earlier Prius loyalty.

And if the casting process saves so darn much money, why are Tesla prices still up in the stratosphere?

(You could have gotten a Porsche EV and had that big recall....)

yeah, it must be Tesla's fault that the dollar is so worthless that you have to give away a WHOLE lot more of them - just to get the same valued product/service. Our older cars will have to last. Sausage, soup Etc is nearly double its cost from just 1½ years ago. Jeez - did we ever think a RAV4 Prime with dealer markups & sales tax could go for nearly $70,000 ?!? Our 1st home (1980 purchase) was $54k. It's economics 101.

Anywho back on topic .... as for the video takeaway. thermal runaway mitigation.
It's going to frustrate fans of the ICE that might otherwise deflect from traditional auto gasoline explosion/fires.

Instead of making side comments about US fiscal policy across the forums, how about starting a thread FHoPol where it belongs.

As I said in the other thread, Tesla started these price hikes before inflation started gearing up. It is basic macroeconomics supply and demand.
