despite the chip shortage, Tesla sells in one business quarter - more EV's, then some manufacturers have yet to even produce.

Tesla delivers more than 200,000 vehicles in 2nd quarter - ABC News

    Good on them!

One possible explanation for this might be.......that Tesla actually stockpiles parts to build it's vehicles MANY months ahead based on actual plus anticipated sales. That might mean that a "shortage" of parts lasting less than 6 months wouldn't impact them at all.......or very little.
    Maybe.

The "just in time" theory of manufacturing that was popularized a few decades ago says that the parts you need arrive only days.....or hours.....before they are actually needed. That saves on storage costs. But it leaves you vulnerable to all kinds of supply chain "glitches".
AFAIK, all big manufacturers have "bought in" to that method of operation.
I bet some of them are re-thinking it about now.
