Am trying to change the keyless entry so it can be opened from both sides. Page 48 explains it but I can't get it to work. With the new 2010 it only opens on the driver's side.
Your info shows a 2007 but your question seems to be for a 2010. If a 2010, what package do you have? The II and III only have the SKS sensors on the driver's door where the IV and V have them on driver's, passenger's and hatch. If a II or III, the SKS can be programmed to open only the driver's door or all doors from the driver's door sensor. But since only the driver's door has the sensor, the other doors will not work with SKS.
Package III has the sensor in the driver's door ONLY. I miss the other sensors (previous Prius was an 08).
A friend of mine took it to the dealer and they changed it for him. It now opens all doors from the driver's side.
You can do that yourself by holding down the lock and unlock buttons on the fob at the same time. Takes about 4-5 seconds and the car will beep when done. But....my understanding is your OP wanted the passenger side to recognize a key holder and open.
It will do what you say above, and is what I said, but not what you asked in your original post Your original post said open from the passenger side.
Yes, the III only has the SKS touch sensor in the driver's side door. So, the programming options available are when you touch the driver's side door sensor it will a) unlock only the driver's door or b) open all doors. The IV and V packages have the SKS touch sensors on the driver's, passenger's and hatch doors. So, the manual is probably covering all packages and probably has a note saying something about options are if available.
I'm going to try what was suggested today. That's the ONLY thing (along with homelink which I'm installing by Wed) that I miss from my old Prius. But, if I can get all doors opening, even if it's just from the drivers side it will help. I have 2 kids and really hate digging through my purse in the South Texas Summer!
