Sweet spot - "63 @ 63"

    Hello all. I recently purchased a 2007 Prius from my dad. Today I drove from South Dakota to Texas. I absolutely love the car. It was a joy to drive.

    Quick question: does anyone have experience with the sweet spot? I read Hobbit's article on it before I left and I was able to find it without additional gauges. My only problem was that I was not able to hold it for very long. Sometimes I could be at around 65mph and mpg at the same time for over a minute or two but would inevitably fall out of it on the flats. Hobbit's article doesn't describe this. Any thoughts on how to maintain it ?

    My car has window trims, not sure how much of a difference they make, but that might have something to do with it. I wasn't terribly loaded, but I wasn't empty either. 2 suitcases, 2 brand new tires, and some other random stuff. Tires are Michelin Defenders.

    Not at 63@63 but mine was at 55@55. Road was flat, temp At 70 to 75 degrees. You may be on something. My mileage will climb if cruise is set @ 100 km which is 62 to 63 mph. Indeed, the Japanese engineers developed this car to cruise at this speed. Mine will give great mpg's as long as I don't have to stop and go or idle alot. Tore pressure makes the biggest difference. Good top tier gasoline helps too. Clean your air flow sensor, its on the net. I jave seen as high as 65 and as low as 36 mpg. Don't overfill the oil and don't overpressure your tires. Just my findings over the last eleven years. Everybody else sold theirs, I kept mine.
