SuperMID M-1 / T-1

    I got the SuperMID yesterday and did the install last night.

    I had a few problems getting power to the unit, but it works fine now. The
    only problem is that the Tach signal is intermittent. I will check the connection to IGF tonight. As far as calibration, the distance is dead on and the FE meter registers 1.5 to 2 MPG low compared to my MFD. But since my MFD tends to be 1.5 to 2 MPG high, I guess it is dead on.

    Some data from today's drive to work....

    Multifunctional Display
    - 25.4 Miles, 83.0 MPG

    SuperMID
    - 41.03 km (25.49 Miles), 34.65 km/L (81.6 MPG)
    - 1.184 Liters used
    - ICE ran 39% of the time
    - While ICE was running, the average FE was 13.42km/L (31.6 MPG)
    - Starting Water Temp 34C
    - Max Water Temp 90C

    Hi Dan,

    I'm very glad to see your report.

    I believe your today's data is including the warming up fuel.
    However, the ICE ran rate is not so good. :)

    Please take a look how our mileage master achieved.
    It was after the ICE warming up, but the test course was a closed loop road, then there was no altitude change (start and finish location is the same:added later).

    We saw the 25 to 30% ICE rate if he did a good running.

    Ken,
    That did include the warm up period. My trip includes many large hills. I think 39% is pretty good considering that. During the weekand I expect the ICE rate to be between 25 and 30%.

    Just an update. I had a practice run last night for the marathon with two others in the car and three windows wide open. I averaged 45.0 km/L over the 50 km course, the ICE rate was 24%.

    Believe you could achieve the 1200 miles or more record.
    Maybe, more than 1300miles of the world record will be accomplished.

    Thanks Ken. Without your help we would be in the dark until we ran out of gas. At least now the progress reports will prove much more interesting with the SuperMID.

    I saw in an earlier post that someone achieved 47.24 km/L (111 MPG) over 27 km. Our course is 25km each way, one end being 50ft higher than the other end. We may see a 47 km/L downhill leg during the marathon, but for the round trip it is unlikely. But that doesn't mean we won't try!

    IIRC the 47.24 km/L was done on a flat circular track. We won't have that advantage. There is a turn around at each end where we loose all momentum and about 20 stop lights. In the overnight hours we might hit only 4 of them in a round trip. In the daylight hours it will be more like 8 per round trip.

    I would love to have a shot at that course in Japan!

    No, it was not.
    We know the very flat road is not the best road for mileage.
    We believe the slight up and down will help us the mileage.
    Something like following slope combinations are the best...

    Believe you already know the better route direction about the 23 mile course.
