Supercharger??

    I was reading a link that was provided in one of the other threads here, the link is to this doc

    In the doc there is one paragraph that mentions the Prius engine has a supercharger :eek:, huh?? First I have heard of this.

    2.2.1 Engine
    The design of the 1.5-liter engine in the 2004 Prius is based on the Atkinson Cycle in which compression
    stroke and expansion stroke duration can be set independently. A supercharger is used with the engine to
    increase its output.​

    I did not see any other reference to this in the doc, or anywhere else.​

    No supercharger in the Prius. It's called a Miller Cycle when you pair an Atkinson Cycle ICE with a supercharger.
