strategy: buying 2 priuses at same time

I was hoping someone might have some insight into this: a friend of mine and I are both buying 2008 package-2 (HG) priuses, hopefully mica pine, mine as straight cash and his as cash+financing+tradein.

Does it make *any* sense to try to use the purchase of two as leverage? Normally I just call all the dealers in a 30 mile radius and use the least expensive, and normally it would help to say "I'm buying two!". But in this case it seems it may be detrimental if there is a "shortage" of the type mentioned.

Any thoughts?
