Here are pictures of the standard speakers that were replaced in my 2008 Package 2 Prius. Paper cones, tiny magnets and they are pop riveted in place. I think the only difference between the package 2 and the "Premium Sound" package is that they put a 2 more of the same speaker in the back. They weigh next to nothing. I'm not singling out Toyota, all car companies use cheap speakers to control costs and then try to sort it out with Digital Signal Processing. Get a package 2 and use the money you saved to put in a decent speakers front and rear.
Stock non-branded speakers are usually like that. The manufacturers probably get 'em at the dollar store in sets of 4 . The JBLs are significantly beefier, but still can't quite compare to moderately priced aftermarket speakers.
