My wife and I drove up into Wisconsin for dinner this evening. She drove, of course, because she is presenting with all the classic symptoms of "Prius Envy." The routing was pretty cool to get us to the restaurant. We had never been there and went only to use a gift certificate. Before leaving, I entered Home as the destination.

My wife agreed with only a few of the turns and decided that she would go "the better way". By law I have to agree with her. Every time she went straight when she should have turned, Priapus rerouted without missing a beat.

This one last time, though, right before we got to a turn, the screen went black for about five seconds and then presented a screen saying something like "Initiating, do not shut off power." At this time, I had the opportunity to exclaim that she had missed so many turns that Priapus finally just gave up in defeat.

But it came back up to the map, route intact, indicating our last known location. We had since made the turn and it promptly repositioned us correctly and carried on as if nothing had happened. The screen was clearly for the NAV DVD. Not because it said so, but because the graphical background was of a DVD.

So what happened? Has anyone encountered this? I'm willing to right it off as an oddity since it recovered and seemed to show no adverse affects.

Hmmmmmmm. Normally I would chalk this up either to allowing you wife to drive or to going into Wisconsin, but something tells me that the real problem is not a s sinister as that.....

OK, actaully, I got nothin'. Other than cheap shots at wives and the cheese state. Others have had spurrious electronic glitches and as our cars get more and more computerized, I'm willing to bet that these types of things will become more common. I agree with you that I would not lose any sleep over it. Just ctl-alt-del and move on!
