I'm new to this forum, so first I say Hello! to everyone. Recently I bought Prius gen I, 2000 Oct. I want to install DRL LEDs but having the same problem...+12V after ignition under the hood. It's a bit easy to identify a +12V READY wire under the steering wheel, but another problem is to move wire from the engine chamber to the cabin Anyone could help with this ? Thanks in adcance Marcin
DRL was available in this model - I think it was standard for Canada. You can see how it was wired if you check the wiring diagram. It's not quite like the cruise control (where, if yours wasn't equipped, all the wiring and functionality is there anyway and all you do is add the switch) ... in the cars without DRL some of the wiring is different and several bits are missing, but you'll be rolling your own anyway so that shouldn't be a roadblock. You might find the unused connection you want right at the underhood fuse box - the diagram will show for sure. Cheers, -Chap
Thanks for the information. Finally I've installed a DRL LED ! Didn't want to spend my time on searching through tons of wires so I used +12V (ready) from wiper motor It works as expected.
