This is the second time this has happened the sparkplug creeps out and the built-in washer thingy creeps up the threads causing misfires.
But use some pliers and a socket to screw the washer back down and reinstall and it works again but this should not be coming out every 5000 miles (that was the approximate interval) what is the best remedy here so it doesn't happen again short of taking a socket to the sparkplugs every few thousand miles?

Mine never move once I get the car and remove the loose spark plugs that are always in the generation too when I buy one of these things they're like finger tight maybe a smidge tighter I buy the vehicle immediately change the plugs to the SK whatever the heck number isn't this day and age and then sock them down like I always do for the last 40 oh no they're not moving anywhere and they're not a bear to get out either but I can't have lost compression past spark plugs that just aren't sealed in the hole that's just seemingly ridiculous Even on an old washer I get close to a half a turn or so and it's relatively tight I would guesstimate I don't know close to 45 ft lb maybe I don't even know what torque spec is and don't really care I just don't want them coming loose and I don't want to break the hollow business off but I have the tools to get them out if I do tapered reamer etc yeah 35 years ago or so I broke a plug off in a 2TC engine which has extensions and everything very similar to all this nonsense we're working on just didn't have coil over plug.

The plug is either too loose or it was over tightened and the threads in the head are yielding. Threads can be retapped but take it to a shop for this.

Maybe it would be prudent to replace it with a new one, and ensure its properly torqued. At least you would then eliminate the possibility of it being a plug issue.

IF the threads in the cylinder head aren't damaged, then install new spark plugs and torque to 13 ft-lb with a torque wrench.

That's probably enough to damage the gasket to the point where it is having difficulty. Just replace the plug.
