PriusOnline has been taken over by spammers and now they seem to be coming here. I try to read posts but a lot of them are partially covered by ads. I was able to disable those stupid "green text" ad links from Kontara (?) but these new ones don't give any option to disable them. I don't mind the ads at the top and bottom of the pages, but putting them so they obscure the text in the posts is really stupid. (I know using spammer and stupid in the same context is redundent!) I'm using Safari 3.2 on Mac OS 10.4.11
Those are not from spammers, those are ads that support the web site. While many of us have had problems in the past with those annoying dropdown ads, there is plenty of software and browser options out there that will reduce or remove those annoyances.
romad, would you mind posting a screenshot for me to look at? The only ads showing up within threads are only being shown to unregistered guests. And those shouldn't be blocking any text. Also, PriusChat doesn't run any Kontara (?) in-text ads. Sounds like you may have some spamware that has sneaked onto your computer.
If I had the time or desire, I could find the thread in which someone's computer was infected with spyware and it was rerouting the PriusChat ads and loading content-questionable ads in their place. Also, the replacement ads were not compatible with the forum and causing reading issues. In short, very similar symptoms.
It isn't happening today. Regarding the Kontara ads, It must have been at PriusOnline that had it. Let me log out and see what happens. I have the forum bookmarked and am logged in automatically; perhaps something happened to the auto log-in the other day.
Cool, just keep me up to date. I want to make sure that everyone has an enjoyable experience here on PC.
That was the problem, Danny. In the screenshot you can see how this ad overlaps the text. Here the text is visible, but the other ad hid any text in the same area.
Oh yeah, I've had that problem with posts that include quotes for guests who see those ads. I'll hopefully figure that out one day...
