I hear a big "Uh Oh!" coming from the back seat as I'm driving along and turn around to see a long, red streak across the middle of the back seat! I quickly grabbed a Subway napkin from the center console and reached around to dab it HARD (fortunately, I had just gotten to a red light). I was sure it wouldn't get it all out and my mind was spinning with thoughts of how to deal with it, what to use etc... Imagine my surprise when I lifted the napkin and the spot was GONE. I quickly went to work on the rest of the spots and, Viola! they came out, too! I've been kicking myself because I didn't get the leather, but whatever they treat the fabric with works great. Just an FYI.

Someone on this chatline had a Prius that survived a few peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Don't bemoan not getting leather. The fabric is fine. I liked the looks of the leather, but leather is too slippery for my taste; too hot in summer and too cold in winter. As a vegetarian, I'd have a mild ethical problem with animal skins.

My dog ralphed on my back seat (you know, the icky yellow kind), came right out. Now I don't worry so much about spilling things.

Glad you got it out! When I saw the title, I said Uh Oh too! :)

Does your car have just the regular fabric protector or extra protection offered at the dealer?

The fabric has a pretty good finish on it that beads spills up...

I was working on an overhead parkade gate in my condo complex and a some black grease dripped from the track onto the back of my windbreaker - When I got in the car, I didn't notice and drove all the way in to work before finding huge black smears rubbed deep into the seat fabric (grey in my car).

I was pretty upset when I saw the condition of the seat (read: thinking seat needing to be completely reupholstered). But I got to work on it with, dabbing with isopropyl alcohol, then some soap and water.

The stains came completely out - can't even see the marks. Pretty amazing fabric.

For the Prius, Toyota uses Alcantara, which is a highly stain-resistant synthetic combination of polyester and polyurethane.

after my 04 and its micro fiber finish, i will never use anything else. i had a fluorescent pink gel pen sitting on the passenger seat. the top popped off it and it basically sat all weekend in the hot sun. by the time i saw it, i had a "dime" sized blotch very very very dried. i simply dabbed it with cold water, 90% of it was removed, used spot cleaner and it faded to practically nothing. i could still see it but only because i knew where it was. i never received single comment on it even with prompting, no one noticed it.

i did get the fabric finish but thru my sister who works for Ford. she says everyone uses the same basic stuff. in fact, if they get busy, the farm out work to detail shops in the neighborhood.

There was a debate 2 years ago about the fabric and whether it was alcantara or not.

The thing was, Alcantara was offered as an option in Europe (sort of a dark grey/green colour) so that meant the standard fabric could've have been Alcantara but some other version of microfibre or woven fabric (for some reason, the manual says "leather and vinyl care" even before leather was offered as an option).
