I have a smartkey that will work with a 2004 and/or a 2005 Prius with the smartkey option. The key has a silver logo on back. The cut key will need to be replaced if you want, as it is cut for other than your car. I have never used the cut key for opening the door or trunk anyway since the smartkey makes it so painless. This key will not work on the 2006 Prius. I know cause I now have one. You will have to have the key programed to your car as all new smartkeys require. The only remotes you can program yourself are for the cars without smartkey. Any questions just ask $90 plus shipping
