My steering wheel Softex outer lining started pulling away from the wheel and forming ridges. These ridges have now ripped off as the outer surface has begun to peel off. Toyota said they wouldn’t do anything about it blaming chemical use or “hand lotions” or some crap (I don’t use lotions...). Has anyone been able to find a steering wheel cover that fits this model or any other solution for this known issue?

After reading this thread, I went to PepBoys and bought a steering wheel cover for my 2020 Prime (2000 miles so far).
Mine has not peeled off but I don't want to take a chance. Even if Toyota replaces under warranty, it would peel off again... and again.

At PepBoys I saw mainly 2 different sizes:
    > 14.5" - 15.5" Dia.
    > 15.5-16.5" Dia.

I bought one one that fits 14.5"-15.5" Dia and it fits OK on my Prime.

I bought one of these on Amazon:

Mayco Bell Microfiber Leather Car Small Steering wheel Cover (14''-14.25'', Black White)

I prefer the stock steering wheel but that is covered with an inferior material and even if replaced will fail again shortly.

I'm having the same problem. I took the car to my local dealership and they are offering to replace the entire steering wheel (for free! I think...the service guy could not promise that but was told this issue will be resolved in my favor and if that's not the case, I don't need to come back). So is it the case that this will occur again on the replacement steering wheel? And is covering it actually prevent it?

Maybe they can replace it with a non-softex steering wheel.

I am happy with the SEG Direct Genuine Leather steering wheel cover I got on Amazon over 2 years ago. Its price oscillates between around $9 to $14, and is easily worth full price if you are impatient at buying on a dip.

It fits perfectly (almost too tight to get on, but that is what you want).

It takes 1.5 to 4 hours to install really well, partly from watching a few videos about how to do all the threading. I spent an hour watching videos, and 3 hours learning, fiddling, and installing to my satisfaction. But I was pretty OCD about it. The key point is to do extremely little pushing of the needle through the leather, and extremely much just lacing the needle through existing thread loops.
