Smog check after P0420 fix

    I recently installed the spacer on the 02 sensor to get me through until I can afford a new Cat so I can pass an upcoming smog check. I cleared the DTC and drove a few miles and the CEL hasn’t come back on…yet. Do I need to wait until I see it come back on or not to get it smogged or if the fix worked I should be able to smog it as soon as I want?

    You will automatically fail the visual inspection portion of the test.

    Oh okay that makes sense. I’m guessing most smog places know to look for the spacer “fix”?

    Yea it's a common thing inspectors find and fail on. There are lazy inspectors though, probably got a 30% chance of passing.

    My smog tech only looked under from the drivers side and did not even care I had a cat shield on it.
