She can also remove the battery.

 

Why wouldn't she take her purse with her?? I would not leave my purse in the car. You must live in a real safe neighborhood.

You might look for a bag made out of Mylar.

In California, when FasTrak issues a Hybrid transponder, they include a Mylar bag. They instruct you to put your wireless transponder in the bag when you pass an "Electronic Toll Collector," if you are in a HOV lane...during 'active' hours.

I think you answered your own question. Tinfoil works well. Just make sure there is no escape of EM wave into the fob wrapped inside.

No need for tinfoil, removing batteries, or even taking your wife's fob with you.

All you have to do is use the lock button on the your fob to lock the car. When you get back to the car, you will have to use the unlock button on your fob, since the door handle unlock sensor won't work if you locked another key in the car using the lock button of another fob.

It's only mildly annoying when it happens with my wife and I. We'll get out of the car and I'll press the black button on the door, only to hear that long beep sound. I'll then realize what the problem is and will reach into my pocket to remove the fob and press the lock button on it, and the car will lock. Then when we get back to the car, I will grab the door handle and find that it doesn't unlock. Remembering that my wife's purse is in the car, I will then reach into my pocket, remove the fob, and press the unlock button.

That's all it takes.

Oh, and rest assured that the Prius will refuse to be unlocked by a thief even though an SKS fob is locked in the car. If someone were to reach into your car, or push a coat hanger or something through the window and try to pull the door handle, flip the lock lever, or push the unlock button, all the car will do is honk loudly for 30 seconds and refuse to do anything else. This is true even if a working SKS fob was locked in the car. You can, however, reach through and push the power button, and then the lock and window buttons work.

Now why would you want to do that? I LOVE the SKS because it now means my wife can't "forget" her purse in the car (as usual) and leave me paying for everything!

 

My wife and I face the same thing. Another method is to reach down and turn the SKS off. Then you can leave a fob in the car and lock it with the remote. I didn't know using just the remote also worked!

 

Many people use an Altoids box or some such thing. It fits very nicely into one of their narrow gum boxes if there is nothing attached to it. Use the mint-sized box if you have other keys and stuff attached.

I tried using the lock button on the fob yesterday while my wifes purse was buried in the car while we went into grab a burger and fries for the road... it works great!

You do have to use the fob again to get back in... the buttons on the door still will not work to unlock either as it protest that the other fob is in the car with the long beep.

 

Ummm, why does your wife have a key to your Prius?
