is the amount of carbon NOT deposited into the atmosphere by Leaf drivers worldwide up to this point. Carwings reports (as of a few days ago) we have driven 1497 miles. not sure if this post belongs here or the "geek" subforum i have less than 2 weeks to go to get mine. the excitement is hard to contain but the Car's capability to do this is amazing My Nissan Leaf Forum • View topic - Carwings is awesome!
How did they calculate the CO2 emitted by the electricity produced to charge the Leaf? Did they use the national average or did each person use their local grid calculation?
nope just the normal off the wall stuff...average fleet mileage, amount of carbon produced to drive the same distance in a regular "20 something mpg" car. so the carbon footprint for the electrical generation is not in the calculation... but, 28% of respondents at Leaf site will use solar to recharge. i am using 100% renewable clean as well (if i charge after 8 PM which is the time the local coal plant shuts down) so the estimate is optimism at its very finest, but remember; less than 200 of the expected 50,000 Leafs are on the road so far. we have a handful being delivered every day now and that rate should increase 5 fold in the next 2 months.
