I am looking into adding Sirius Radio to my 2005 Prius and have pretty much selected the Sportster model. I am in the Dallas TX area if that is important due to antenna aiming. Does anyone have experience using one in the Prius?

Here is what I am considering for my installation option:

    Sirius Sportster with Car Kit
    * Mounting the Car Kit with strong adhesive tape to the lower dash panel below the radio in front of the center console
    * Using the power port to the right of that for the power source utilizing the included adapter
    * Using the Internal FM Frequency Modulator to get sound to my radio.
    * Antenna mounting is still in question...would prefer the roof but not sure if that can be done...may mount on dash. If anyone has a good sugguestion on how to handle the antenna let me know.

I would appreciate any feedback on other's experiences with this model or similar.

I don't want XM and I would prefer to have the portable unit so I can move it around with me.

Thanks in advance for any insights others might have.

I've got a Sirius Brix Streamer mounted there. I had the unit bolted on there rather than use tape though. I was using the FM modulation, but switched over to a tape adaptor. I'm STILL waiting for Coastal Dave's AUX-IN kit. I'm using that power port also, but I had the shop tap directly into the wires rather than use the plug. You can take a look at my album to see where my antenna is located. I've had no reception problems with it there. Good luck with your install and keep us posted!

I'm using an Audiovox PnP2 with the car kit.

I "mounted" the car kit using double-sided carpenter's tape onto the carpet on the hump in front of the kleenex drawer. It obstructs the drawer a bit, but I use the radio a lot more than the kleenex. This also allows me to remove the car kit when I go to Mexico a couple of times each year. I can take the radio and car kit to use in Mexico, then just re-tape it to the carpet in my Prius when I return.

I currently have the magnetic antenna placed near the usual antenna with the antenna wire running around the rear seat, under the carpet in the back seat to the front console, then under the front carpet to the radio. I use the auxiliary "cigarette lighter" for power.

I installed a Sirius radio made by JVC. Open the plastic drawer in front of the center console. I used double stick tape to place a small piece of 1/8" glass on the bottom of the drawer. the suction cup sticks securely to the glass. You don't see the glass and the radio can be easily removed. It is out of the way and plugs conveniently into the outlet.

I am having a hard time understanding this antenna mount from the pictures. How does the wire get outside? Isn't it coming out by the windshield and rearview mirror? (The framing is so tight it's hard to tell.)

And on the inside, how is the wire routed down to the unit?
