    It's not about fuel efficiency or lower emissions -- it's about stealth.

    WASHINGTON - The Hybrid Electric Humvee, which can operate in silent mode on battery power alone, was run through a number of field assessments Sept. 26 to Oct. 3 by Soldiers at Fort Campbell, Ky.

    Soldiers drove the Humvee for six miles on only battery power, convoyed in the hybrid (electric-diesel) mode, and used the vehicle’s electrical system to power a battalion tactical operations center. It was the first phase of the vehicle’s Military Utility Assessment,

    I need one!!! (sorry I've alwayed loved the H1, hate the H2).

    Doesn't seem to mention MPG though, I'd be courious about that.

    And MPG is important, since refuelling is always a problem in the field.

    MMhmmm well there you go! Full hybrid technology that breaks the misconception that hybrids are just for wimps.

    Truly an excellent use of "stealth" mode :D.
