Hi all- For those of you with the NAV package, when the voice is guiding you to your destination, do you notice a noise (like a slight squeal or buzzing or sidetone) just about a second before the voice is about to speak and then while the voice is speaking? It's not really loud, but it is noticeable to me and I was wondering if that's just a trait of the system or it's something that I should have the dealer address? Thanks, ualdriver
My first thought is you have previously over-driven the small speakers with some loud music. Granted the amp isn't particularly powerful, but over time it could damage the speakers resulting in the buzz you hear. Just a thought. ZC1
All through Bill- It's a brand new car and it was making that sidetone within 60 minutes when I drove it off the lot on Thursday and activated the NAV guidance for the first time. I'm no audiophile, but I'm definitely hearing something and it is definitely just before and during the voice guidance commands. I guess I'll take it in and have the dealership take a look at it unless the experts on here tell me something different. Thanks, ualdriver
I've noticed some background noise in the nav voice as well. It's as though the recordings aren't of terribly high quality. My old Garmin Nuvi 350 was the same. Though I didn't notice as much with it because my old Nissan was a lot more noisy than the Prius. For the most part I rarely use the nav, and since the Garmin did the same thing I just don't pay attention to it.
It's normal. They all do that, but some peoples' ears are better than others. It starts just a beat before Jill does her stuff, when the NAV system cuts into the sound system playback. Tom
