When I got water drops on my side windows (from rain or frost), rolled it down then up didn't clean off the water. Even worse, all the water drops were untouch.

Is the same to your car, or it's just my car?

sounds like your weatherstripping needs adjusting/replacing. how about the passenger side?

There are a lot of threads about this subject with the C. The window shape curves away from the outer window felt and doesn't wipe the window down when it's rolled down.

Yeah, they all seem to do that. Following some recommendations here, I applied Rain-X to the side windows as well as the windshield, and it definitely helps.

Both right. This subject has been discussed at length before. The only solution is as ftl says, to Rain-X the windows. Even when the Rain X starts to wear away, the side windows are still much clearer than before it was applied.

It has previously been argued that the window is designed in the way it is to avoid the glass being scratched by mud and dirt. My Fords would suffer this badly.

I would say replacing the weather stripping would help tremendously. The rubber gets old and soft over time, new rubber should do the trick

Mine did it from new, as have others. The window pulls away from the rubber quite deliberately.

You do realize that you're in the Prius C forum right? These cars are brand new and still have the issue.

If this is a new car under warranty, the dealer would have to fix the problem or it would be a lemon

    It's not a broken part. It's a design flaw.

If this is on only a certain number of cars and not others, it's not a design flaw. Is this happening on all the cars?

It's happening on every Prius C that the weather gets cold enough to create condensation.

Doh. Then all the C owners should go and harass their local Toyota dealers for a TSB fix on this issue.

I have the same problem. I just drive down the road and the wind blows the drops away and then I can see out the sides again

Toyota won't do anything about this... it isn't a safety issue. Carry a shammy and wipe the windows down. 3/$1.

And if they did 'correct' it, how many more people would complain their glass was getting scratched?

I noticed that with mine. The curve of the window prevents the built-in squeegee from touching the glass. I thought about replacing it with a thicker one, but so far I haven't found one.

    I don't think it's broken.

    I don't think it's a design flaw.

    It simply is.

Trust me, it rains a LOT in the Pacific Northwest. I don't use the opening and closing of my windows as the action to clean them. Window weather stripping is not designed to be a windshield wiper.

If you keep your windows relatively clean, side windows blow clear in nearly the slowest driving.

And since I think glass can become scratched if dirt gets rubbed against it, I'd rather weather stripping that isn't so tight as to force contaminates against the glass. Raise or lower your window with some dirt on it on a dry day? Weather stripping trying to move the contaminates could result in scratches.

Just keep your windows clean. Use Rain-X if you feel it's a problem and call it good.

I have no trouble as I wax my side windows as well as my windshield and rear windows, water just rolls off, no drops. Rain X is the ticket.
