    I was wondering.
I know if you have the defroster on for the front windshield the side mirrors are heated, but can I just turn on the mirror heaters to melt ice or snow, without having to have the ac running.

Or just have them on with floor heat going?

Also how well do they met snow or ice?

    Thanks,
    Bryan

Actually, they come on when the REAR defroster is activated. Unforunately, Toyota didn't supply a separate button for the heated mirrors. As for melting snow or ice, I'm not sure but they sure remove the frost from the mirror waaay before the rear window gets cleared

I used them just last week to melt snow & ice. Very fast (seemed like 1 minute at most). And as noted above, you just hit the rear defroster button; A/C doesn't need to be on.

BTW, don't forget to turn off the rear defroster as soon as you're done, since it seems to drain the battery faster, increase use of the ICE, & decrease mileage a bit. Of course there's an auto-shutoff, but that can take a long time.

    Thanks for the quick repsonses.
We will get some rain and snow just a few inches tongiht and tomorrow.
But the temp will be about +22f, so I know the rain will ice up on the mirrors.

    Thanks again!

I cant beleive how fast the mirrors melt the ice and in fact the mirrors were even almost dry...
