I have a 2010 Prius with about 152k miles. I go on a twisty mountain road weekly. When I'm near the other end, going down hill on that road I experience mild shuddering. I don't experience this anywhere else so far. Also, around the same time this started happening the antilock brakes are activating when making some of those corners when that used to never happen on the same corners at higher speeds. Some times I can take a corner very aggressively and it won't activate, other times I corner more gently than normal and it still activates with the beeping and kind of a grinding sound from the non driver side of the vehicle; seems to break only on that side but I'm not 100% sure yet if it is always the passenger side but I am quite confident that only the passenger side is braking, possibly only the front wheel.

I haven't cleaned the underside of the car ever and I live on a dirt road.

Also, I noticed these issues started less than a week after I had the rear tires replaced with new. Same brand as the front but newer model.

Maybe internal rodent damage? I live in a forest.

Are you sure you're not mixing up the traction control or the anti-skid control with the ABS? If the ABS was activating it would be stopping your car not making it roll funny like if the traction control activates then your car kind of slows down and tries to get all the wheels caught up to each other or something I'm not sure exactly how it works nor do I care. But it sounds like that's what you maybe mean to say? So then you're driving down this twisty mountain road and then when you get into the heavy twisties if your ABS was coming on I would think you'd be being brought down to a stop pretty quickly? Where is the traction control might feel like breaking but it's actually the anti-skid control or whatever that's trying to bring everything under control.? And maybe that's what the beeping is it's telling you that the traction control vehicle skid control has been activated. Do we get a noise when the ABS is activated? I'm not sure about that every time you step on your brake pedal your anti-lock brakes are being used because you're complete system is antilock if you will You can't not use antilock brakes.

Maybe you should make sure all the tires that were mounted are balanced properly. Are they all the same size?
