I was wondering if someone can help me out here:confused:I want to buy a prius, but I don't know if I should get the 2010 or wait until the 2011 comes out. I was thinking the 2011 would be a better Prius. I'm not in a big hurry to get one. If I get a 2010 should I get the Advanced Technology package or the solar roof package?

Whether or not to get AT or Solar ROof is only a decision you could make, no one can make it for you... Do you have hot enough weather that many months out of the year to really get use out of the Solar Roof? Do you do enough highway driving to make use of many of the AT features? Do you like a firmer but more responsive ride? Those are just a few of the questions you have to ask yourself in deciding between a IV or V Prius...

As for waiting or getting one now, there really will not be much different between a 2010 and 2011 but anything anyone tells you now about the 2011 is pure speculation. They will probably make changes to small things based upon input from people now but as for the car looking different etc, you will not see much if any of that. Also, do you need a car soon/now or can you wait? If it doesn't matter either way I don't see a big reason to wait, the 11' won't really be a 'better Prius' over a 2010 in any major way...

    chefchris04,

If you need a new car, then yes buy a 2010 Prius. If you don't need a new car now and your current vehicle runs Ok, keep your current car and run it into the ground (and keep your money).

As Paradox has stated, there won't be much difference between the 2010 & 2011.

The only difference in the 2010 and 2011 is likely to be the options and the packages. Toyota marketing has to have a few bullet points in their brochure to convince you to get an "all-new" 2011 Prius. For the most part, nothing is going to be redesigned the second year after a major overhaul. But this is my opinion of course.

You might see things from other markets like heads-up display, daytime running lights, and side turn markers, maybe even something else like USB in the radio. I imagine this will drive the cost up a few hundred, as they already slashed it in response to the Insight. On the other hand, we may not see these things in the US until 2012 or never. Something has to be added to the 2011 of course.

If you're happy with an option package that they have now, then go ahead and buy the car. If for instance you want the sunroof and don't want to pay $$$ for the Nav and the solar vents, than you might as well wait it out. Personally, I'd just wait it out if you have a working vehicle and decide when the 2011 is announced. Actually, if your car will last, I'd just wait until they bring the HUD to the US market.
