COSTCO gets the big flu shot for seniors often before my regular pharmacy. Headed to Kansas Wednesday, I wanted increasing protection before dealing with the unmasked horde.

We are getting ours Oct 1 as there is a free community drive through shot event that day.

Our State Health Department is telling us to expect widespread and severe outbreaks of influenza and Covid this fall.

This is earlier than I typically get a flu shot; used to wait for employer's in-house offering, which was typically more like October. But CVS was offering it last week alongside the bivalent COVID booster, so I said yes to both.

That was the first time I've had 'em given in the same arm. Last night it stopped being sore.

I think you were smart for getting the Bivalent Covid booster.
I have had the regular booster.
One of our kids unknowingly bought the Covid virus home from college a few weeks ago and we all caught it.
We were very sick and even 3 weeks later have lingering sore throats and cough up phlegm ever so often.

Will get the bivalent booster as soon as it is available here - no way I want to go through the effects of Covid again.

My wife says can wait 3 - 4 months after catching COVID prior to getting the booster dose. (Our son caught it end of June, and she says he can wait one more month)...

BTW- There are high efficiency HVAC filters with electrostatic properties that can filter viruses. Our current filters are rated MPR2500 (3M Filtrete brand). My parents and I have avoided it through both my wife's bout in mid January then son's late June...

We have been waiting for the bivalent covid booster for quite some time. We need to get it soon!

Unfortunately, my wife was exposed to covid at a 'work retreat'...The knuckleheads decided a large 'work retreat' was a good idea. Everyone was supposed to test beforehand...but it was scout's honor...no validation whatsoever that folks *actually* tested. And I'm assuming some percentage didn't bother to test...because "the pandemic is over"...right? :rolleyes:o_O

Well guess what? A day after the 'retreat'...a coworker came down with a case of covid so bad he had to be taken to the hospital for a short time...and this was a younger person as well. Supposedly he did test before the 'retreat'...but no way to know for sure. And absolutely no mask usage at the 'retreat'...and my wife has a medical condition as well.

There are SO many people that claim "the pandemic is over" ( including the president...I guess  )...sigh. Well, it ain't....

The pandemic being over doesn't mean COVID is gone. It looks like we are in the endemic stage where it will be around like the flu, but generally, cases will be less severe than during the pandemic stage.

home testing is still a major problem. anyone hoping that it will prevent spread at a major event is out of luck.
best you can do is be fully vaccinated, wear a mask and keep your fingers crossed.

some younger healthy people are still being hospitalized, or get long covid, and it is not understood why

Since doctors are saying the yearly flu is more dangerous than Covid we're done with the Covid boosters. Our niece (in her 30's) is an RN and had to get all the vaccines, including the booster, and ended up having to have heart bipass surgery and we've heard lots of reports of new heart issues from folks who've had the covid jabs....so we're done with them.
We're unsure on the flu shot this year....but will pass if they try to sneak the covid crap in with it....nope.

Dang shame that she was unable to get the bivalent COVID booster before the heart bypass. Perhaps it was just the announcement of bivalent COVID vaccine that triggered her (and your) heart problem?

I've already had four vaccinations including two boosters and I'm still quite active. We did have a COVID bout in our home that was diagnosed the 4th and 5th day of symptoms. Diagnosis was more curiosity than seeking treatment.

You do know that the bivalent was approved with ZERO human testing, don't you? So unless you are mouse, you're going to be a test-subject, aka guinea pig.

    I picked two:
    • GOOD
    • FAST
    • cheap
You are free to make your choices. But given your "cheap" understanding, let the games begin.

As long as we're not naming the doctors, I suppose you can find ones who "are saying" that, though I'm not sure where you have to look.

As the most recent 7-day moving average of US COVID deaths is 358 a day, a rate that would work out to 130,000+ a year, and US flu deaths have typically come in around 12,000 to 52,000 a year, it seems the best places to find doctors who are saying that would be places where doctors can't math?

Turned down? Hopefully not due to my comment? I can't easily find threads on TapaTalk now and just post where I can. My wife's idea was regarding the COVID bivalent vaccine....

This increase of cardiac issues can easily be correlated to the trend/advice to stay at home. Sedentary life plus diet catching up I see a lot of people gain weight. Tell us she was skinny and definitely may put a concern in my mind if it was a 30 yr old family member.....
